Mascaro, Eastern Region Development Manager for Dermody Properties. He will discuss the challenges of starting the LEED program at DP and how important planning is for LEED industrial. He will also review the company’s development in Pooler and the LEED aspects of its New Jersey project.
“LEED allows development to continue in a sustainable manner that minimizes impact to the environment while providing a return to the company,” Mascaro said. “Minimizing the impact is of benefit to the world in general through energy savings, recycling, water usage reduction and lessening of the carbon footprint. Specific benefits to the tenants are gained via reduced costs of operation, better working environment, increased productivity and better quality of (working) life.”
AMB Property Corporation’s John Morgan will discuss the economic challenges facing an institutional investor developing to LEED standards, and what industrial developers need from USGBC to be more sustainable. Morgan, the Vice President of Development, East Region, will also talk about lifting the taboo of the costs of developing LEED, and learning by doing – discovering the requirements as you go.

The Savannah Chapter of the United States Green Building Council is dedicated to promoting sustainable design and green building throughout the Creative Coast. The group meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The meetings are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. The USGBC-Savannah Chapter seeks to educate the public on the long-term benefits of green building and how sustainable design can be integrated or implemented into one’s life.
